Cricket's three formats and popular tournaments

In Bangladesh, cricket is more than a sport — it is a passion. Before betting on e baji, it helps to understand the difference between the three formats, because the style of play and the betting markets differ for each.

T20 — the fastest format, with matches of just 20 overs. The situation can change with every ball, making T20 the most engaging format for live betting. BPL, IPL, and the T20 World Cup are the biggest T20 tournaments.

ODI — the winner is decided across two innings over 50 overs. ICC World Cup and bilateral series fall under this format. Total Runs and Partnership markets are especially popular here.

Test Cricket — the longest format, played over five days. From a betting perspective, innings markets and the possibility of a draw add an extra dimension that does not exist in T20.

Betting on football and other sports is different from T20. A football match is typically 90 minutes and a draw is a separate outcome. In limited-overs cricket there is no draw, so the odds structure is different. In sports like Kabaddi or Badminton, the number of available markets is smaller than in cricket.

The most popular betting markets

On e baji you can bet on multiple markets within a single match. Below is a straightforward introduction to seven popular markets.

Main Market

Match Winner

This market is simply about choosing which team will win the match. Example: if you bet on Team A to win and Team A wins, your bet is successful.

Match-Start

Toss Winner

A bet on who will win the toss before the match starts. The outcome is a pure fifty-fifty, so the odds are generally even.

Individual Performance

Top Batsman

Which batsman from a given team will score the most runs — this market requires watching the full innings before making a decision.

Runs-Based

Total Runs Over/Under

A bet on whether the total runs scored will be above or below a set number. Example: if you bet on Over 160 runs in an innings and the score reaches 161, your bet wins.

Bowling

Top Wicket Taker

A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in the match. The competition between spinners and pacers makes this market interesting.

Multiple Bets

Multi Bet

Combining selections from multiple matches into a single bet. If even one selection is wrong the entire bet is lost, but if all are correct the return is higher.

Odds in three formats — simple calculations

On e baji, odds are shown in three familiar formats: Decimal, Fractional, and American. All three express the same probability — only the way they are presented differs.

Format Value (Team A win) Explanation
Decimal 3.00 Total return of ৳1,500 on a ৳500 bet
Fractional 2/1 ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked
American +200 ৳200 profit on a ৳100 bet

Example 1: Odds of Team A winning are 3.00 (Decimal) = 2/1 (Fractional) = +200 (American). On a ৳500 bet, if you win you receive a total of ৳1,500 (৳1,000 profit + ৳500 stake); if you lose, ৳500 is gone.

Example 2 (Favourite): Odds of Team B winning are 1.50 Decimal = 1/2 Fractional = -200 American (negative odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100). On a ৳500 bet, if you win you receive a total of ৳750 (৳250 profit).

e baji Multi Bet slip and bet details

Multi Bet — multiple selections combined

In a Multi Bet, the outcomes of several matches are combined into a single bet. On e baji you can add three or more selections together.

Example: three selections with odds of 1.40, 1.50, and 1.80. The combined odds are 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.80 = 3.78 (approximately). So on a ৳100 bet, if all three are correct you receive ৳378. But if any one is wrong, you lose the full ৳100.

Multi Bets can be enjoyable, but the risk multiplies with each selection added. It is a good idea to start with fewer selections and build experience from there.

With Multi Bets, always decide on your stake amount first. Keep in mind that the entire stake can be lost — betting is a form of entertainment, not a reliable source of income.

Live In-Play Betting — odds shift with every wicket and over

Live betting adds a different dimension to cricket. On e baji, odds are updated after every ball or over during a match. When a wicket falls, the chasing team's odds lengthen; when the run rate drops, the odds shift in favour of the defending team.

For example: 60 runs needed off the last five overs, Team B has 7 wickets in hand — in this situation Team B's odds will shorten because their chances of winning are higher. But a single wicket can change the picture.

Live betting requires quick decisions. Viewing live scores and statistics on Aster Live makes it easier to decide — the live betting experience is covered in detail on that page.

Live Betting Tip: Watch the first hour of the match to get a feel for the pitch and both teams' form, then choose your market. It is better not to place large bets from the very first over.

Practical tips for cricket betting

Betting is a form of entertainment. Keeping the following tips in mind will make the experience more comfortable.

  • Set a fixed budget and do not exceed it. Avoid placing larger bets in an attempt to recover losses.
  • Before a match, check the pitch conditions, weather, and both teams' recent form. These are relevant to understanding the odds.
  • Start Multi Bets with fewer selections. The chance of getting five or more selections all correct is very low.
  • In live betting, take a few seconds to think before each bet rather than rushing. Odds change fast, but there is always time to make a careful decision.
  • If you do not fully understand a market, it is better not to bet on it. Start with straightforward markets like Match Winner and Total Runs.
  • To learn about responsible betting practices, read the Responsible Gaming Guidelines — e baji is here to help keep your experience safe.

Age Restriction and Safety

Cricket betting and all other betting on e baji is for people aged 21 and above only. Betting is a form of entertainment — always enjoy it within your means.

FAQ — Cricket Betting

A T20 match is only 20 overs, so the situation changes quickly and live betting odds move with every ball. In an ODI, 50 overs gives much more time, so the markets stay comparatively stable. Powerplay and death-over markets are especially popular in T20 but are not as prominent in ODIs.

In the BPL you can bet on several markets including Match Winner, Toss Winner, Top Batsman, Total Runs Over/Under, and Multi Bet. On e baji, live markets are also available before and during every BPL match.

Decimal odds of 1.50 mean you get back a total of ৳1.50 for every ৳1 staked (৳0.50 profit). Example: if Team B's odds are 1.50 and you place a ৳500 bet and win, you receive ৳750 in total, of which ৳250 is profit. These odds are equivalent to 1/2 in fractional format and -200 in American format.

In handicap betting, the weaker team is given a notional advantage. Example: if Team B is given a +1.5 wicket handicap, that handicap is added to their result when calculating the outcome. This levels the competition between the two teams in the betting market. No specific stake or return is implied in this case.

In Test cricket, if no result is reached after five days the match is declared a draw. So the Match Winner market in a Test has three possible outcomes: Team A wins, Team B wins, and draw. In T20 or ODI cricket there is generally no draw market.
